Major Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying protection systems and applying restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from city authorities.

Area administrators said the urban area came under heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were wounded.

The assaults come after evenings of air raids in the area, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

He said technical personnel and officials were preparing for more assaults.
